Privacy Notice

1. What We Collect

AfterDive collects information you provide directly, including dive logs, site names, dive conditions, species sightings, photos, and notes, solely to provide and improve the AfterDive service. We also collect standard app usage data (crash reports, feature usage) to help us fix issues and improve performance. We do not collect or sell your personal data to third-party advertisers.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your dive data is used to power your personal log, generate Insights, and display your history. When you enable Ocean Intelligence sharing, anonymised and aggregated conditions and species sighting data is contributed to the AfterDive community dataset, which improves sighting predictions for all divers. You may disable this at any time in your account settings.

3. Third-Party Data Sources

Marine life data shown on the Explore screen is sourced from publicly available research-grade databases operated by iNaturalist and OBIS under their respective open data licences. This data is not linked to your personal account. Dive shop location data is sourced from OpenStreetMap under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). OpenStreetMap is a trademark of the OpenStreetMap Foundation.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase infrastructure. We apply industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest. Access to your personal data is restricted to you and authorised AfterDive personnel who need it to operate the service.

5. Your Rights

You may access, correct, export, or delete your personal data at any time through the app settings or by contacting us. If you delete your account, your personal data will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Children's Privacy

AfterDive is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Changes to This Notice

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after such notification constitutes acceptance of the updated notice.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the AfterDive mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App. AfterDive is operated by AfterDive ("we", "us", or "our").

2. Use of the App

AfterDive is a personal dive logging application designed for recreational and professional divers. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the App. By using the App you confirm you are of eligible age or have parental consent. You agree not to misuse the App, attempt to reverse-engineer it, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

3. User Content

You retain ownership of any dive logs, photos, notes, and species sightings you submit ("User Content"). By submitting User Content you grant AfterDive a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, and display your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the App. When Ocean Intelligence sharing is enabled, anonymised conditions and species data may be included in our community dataset. You may revoke this consent at any time in your account settings.

4. Third-Party Data

The Explore feature incorporates marine life data from iNaturalist and OBIS under their respective open data licences. AfterDive makes no warranty regarding the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of third-party data. Dive site and ocean conditions information is provided for planning purposes only and does not constitute dive safety advice. Always follow the guidance of a qualified dive professional.

5. Disclaimers

DIVING IS AN INHERENTLY HIGH-RISK ACTIVITY. AFTERDIVE IS A LOG AND RESEARCH TOOL ONLY. NOTHING IN THE APP CONSTITUTES DIVE SAFETY ADVICE. YOU ASSUME ALL RISK ASSOCIATED WITH YOUR DIVING ACTIVITIES. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AFTERDIVE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, AfterDive and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the App.

7. Privacy

Your use of AfterDive is also governed by our Privacy Notice, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the App you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Notice.

8. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after such notice constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.
