Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 October 2026

Section 1

Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the AfterDive mobile application and website (together, the "Service"), operated by AfterDive ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Section 2

Description of Service

AfterDive is a dive logging and community application that lets you record dive logs, track equipment and certifications, sync compatible dive computers, view marine life and conditions data, and optionally share dives publicly with other divers. Some features are available free of charge; others are offered as part of paid subscription tiers, as described within the app.

Section 3

Eligibility & Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.

Section 4

Subscriptions & Payment

Certain features require a paid subscription. Prices, billing frequency, and included features are as displayed in the app or on our website at the time of purchase, and may change with notice. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period, in accordance with the terms of the app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) through which you subscribed. Refunds are handled according to the relevant app store's refund policy.

Section 5

Not a Dive Safety or Training Tool

⚠️ AfterDive is a logging and community tool only. It is not a substitute for proper dive training, certification, dive planning, or professional judgement, and must never be relied on as a primary source of dive safety, decompression, or gas-planning information.

Scuba diving carries inherent risks, including serious injury or death. You are solely responsible for your own dive planning, for diving within the limits of your training and certification, and for the safety decisions you make before, during, and after every dive. Data synced from dive computers, SAC rate calculations, insights, and any other figures shown in the app are provided for logging and reference purposes only and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Always rely on your own training, your dive computer or instruments, and a qualified dive professional for actual dive safety decisions.

Section 6

Your Content & Public Dive Logs

You retain ownership of the dive logs, photos, notes, and other content you submit to the Service ("User Content"). By submitting User Content, you grant AfterDive a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, and display that content as needed to operate the Service.

Certain features let you choose to make dive logs or your profile visible to other users, or publicly on the web (for example, by enabling public dive logs or a public web profile). You are responsible for what you choose to share publicly, and you can change these visibility settings at any time in the app. Content you have made public may be viewed, and in some cases indexed by search engines, until you remove it or change its visibility.

Section 7

Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to post unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or abusive content; to impersonate another person or entity; to interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure; to scrape or harvest data from the Service except as permitted by these Terms; or to use the Service for any purpose that violates applicable law. We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate this section.

Section 8

Third-Party Data & Services

The Service may incorporate third-party data (such as marine life data sourced from iNaturalist and OBIS) and may connect to third-party dive computer hardware or services for data sync. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, or performance of third-party data or services, and your use of connected hardware remains subject to that manufacturer's own terms and instructions.

Section 9

Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, branding, software, and all content we provide (excluding your User Content), is owned by AfterDive and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service except as expressly permitted by these Terms.

Section 10

Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time through the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably practicable.

Section 11

Disclaimer of Warranties & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, AfterDive shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits, arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

Section 12

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Singapore.

Section 13

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after such notification constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
