Getting started
What is AfterDive?
AfterDive is a dive logging app for recreational and technical divers. It records the full story of every dive, including depth, duration, conditions, gas consumption, buddies and marine life, then turns that data into insights about how you dive. You can keep your logs private or share them with the community.
Who is AfterDive for?
Any diver who wants to log with a little more discipline and get something back for it. It's great for newer divers who want to build good habits, and it goes deep enough for technically minded divers who care about SAC rate, gas planning and conditions data.
Is AfterDive free?
Yes. AfterDive is free to download, with unlimited dive logs, AI insights and SAC rate included. Optional paid tiers launch in August 2026. You can see the full breakdown on the pricing page.
What devices does AfterDive work on?
AfterDive is available now on iOS, on the App Store. An Android version is on the way.
Logging your dives
Does AfterDive calculate SAC rate automatically?
Yes. Enter your tank size, start pressure and end pressure, and AfterDive works out your SAC rate for you, then tracks the trend over time so you can watch your air efficiency improve dive by dive.
Can I log dives offline?
Yes. You can log without a connection. Entries autosave as drafts and sync when you are back online, which is exactly what you want on a liveaboard or at a remote site.
Can I quickly log several dives in a day?
Yes. Duplicate any previous dive and change only what is different. Your site, gear, gas setup and dive type carry forward, so you are not starting from scratch each time.
What can I record for each dive?
Depth and duration, water temperature and visibility, conditions like current and surge, gas and tank details, dive type and entry, buddies and their roles, marine life spotted, plus notes and photos.
Do you have a gear tracking feature?
Yes, through a feature called the Kit Room. You can build your dive setup like a loadout, choosing from over 2,300 curated scuba products across 90 brands and 60+ equipment categories, from masks, regulators and fins to tech rigs, rebreathers, DSMBs, drysuits and thermal layers. You can also add custom items by hand, save different configurations for different kinds of diving, and set service reminders so your critical equipment stays in date.
Does AfterDive use the metric or imperial system?
Both. You can switch between metric and imperial whenever you like from your profile screen, and the whole app updates to match. Depths, temperatures, pressures and tank sizes all display in the units you choose, so you can log the way you are used to.
Does AfterDive integrate with dive computers like Shearwater or Suunto?
Yes, it's on the way. AfterDive is adding Bluetooth sync for dive computers, so your dives download straight into the app, including depth, time, temperature and your full dive profile, with no manual entry. It covers more than 80 dive computers across 14 brands: Shearwater, Suunto, Scubapro/Uwatec, Oceanic/Aqualung/Sherwood, Pelagic, Mares, Heinrichs Weikamp (OSTC), Cressi, Ratio/Divesystem, Deep6, Deepblu, Oceans, Divesoft and McLean. It rolls out on iOS in August 2026 and on Android in September 2026. In the meantime you can enter the key numbers your computer gives you, including max depth, average depth, duration, temperature and your gas, and AfterDive turns them into your SAC rate and insights.
Insights and community
What are Insights?
AfterDive analyses your logs and surfaces what they mean: your SAC rate trend, depth progression, air efficiency and a diver fingerprint. The Intelligence tab adds AI insights generated from your own dive history, cross-referenced with ocean science.
What is the Ocean Connection Score and Diver Archetype?
They are ways to understand your diving at a glance. Your archetype captures your style as a diver, and your Ocean Connection Score reflects the breadth of species, sites, seasons and conditions you have logged.
Where does the dive site and marine life data come from?
AfterDive ships with 200+ dive sites built in. Marine life data comes from the research-grade iNaturalist and OBIS databases, dive shop locations from OpenStreetMap, all layered with real sightings logged by AfterDive divers.
What is Tribe?
Tribe is the community side of AfterDive. One toggle turns a private dive log into a public post, so your conditions, sightings and notes become useful intelligence for divers heading to the same site.
Privacy and your data
Is my dive data private?
Yes. Every dive is private by default. Sharing is a single opt-in toggle, and even then only anonymised conditions and species data is contributed to the community dataset. You can turn it off at any time.
Do you sell my data to advertisers?
No. AfterDive does not sell your personal data to third-party advertisers.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from the app settings. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where the law requires retention.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account at any time, directly in the app. Open your profile screen and follow the steps for account deletion. You can also start the process on our account deletion page. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our systems within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep certain records.
